MAN ENTERS PLEA: David Siefert pleaded no contest Thursday to assault with intent to murder and use of a firearm in the commission of a felony in the Aug. 24 shooting of his mother, Patricia Siefert at their home in Sheridan Township near Albion. In exchange for his plea, charges of being a felon in possession of a firearm, a second count of felony firearm and being a habitual offender, will be dismissed. The woman said she awoke when her son began shooting at her with a .22 caliber rifle, apparently angry because she asked him to mow the lawn the day before. She was treated for a bullet wound to her shoulder. David Siefert will be sentenced on his 40th birthday, Dec. 1, by Calhoun County Circuit Judge Conrad Sindt.
