Mosaic storytelling series announces performers

Charles Rose, left, and Jake Wolverton work through a storytelling exercise earlier this year.

The storytellers who take the stage at the Enquirer's next Mosaic Storytelling Showcase will have plenty to say about the subject of food, but don't expect to pick up a lot of tips for working around the kitchen or planning a holiday meal.

Surviving in a war zone, parenting, moving to a foreign land, overcoming personal loss, starting a business — these are just a few of the themes performers will touch on at the concert Tuesday, May 3, at the Burma Center, 765 Upton Ave., in Springfield.

The second of the Enquirer's storyteller evenings will include 11 performers: Nicole Mullis, Donna Teichman, Peecoon Allen, Jake Wolverton, Silvana Q. Russell, George Hernandez, Susan Glidden, Charles Rose, Maryann Angelo, Meredith Stravers and Jeremy Andrews.

Tickets for the event are $5 and are on sale at the Enquirer's Commerce Pointe offices at 77 E. Michigan Ave., Battle Creek Books at 51 W. Michigan Ave., or online at tickets.battlecreekenquirer.com. Proceeds from ticket sales will benefit the Food Bank of South Central Michigan.

The doors open at 6 p.m., with performances beginning promptly at 7 p.m.

The May 3 concert is the second of four scheduled concerts, but plans are under way for additional events. Anyone interested in performing as a storyteller or otherwise participating in storytelling workshops and events may send an email to mosaic@battlecreekenquirer.com or call Executive Editor Michael McCullough at 269-966-0670.
