Battle Creek Enquirer

Each week the Enquirer Prep Gameday page breaks down the top city and area games of the week in high school football and highlights the top performances:

BC Central (3-5) at Loy Norrix (1-7), 7 p.m. Friday

Scouting Report: Battle Creek Central is out of the playoff hunt, but still is playing for a share of the SMAC East Division title. Bearcats are currently tied with Lakeview for first. A win over Loy Norrix clinches the team's first division title since 2008. Loy Norrix has lost seven straight games and was rolled by Portage Central, 56-0, last week. The Knights have not won more than one game in a season since 2012. Battle Creek Central edged Loy Norrix, 18-15, in the final game of last season.

Great Gridder: Brandon Randle leads BCC's defense with 10 tackles for loss on the season

Who is No. 1 in final week of E-10 poll?

Harper Creek (3-5) vs Lansing Everett (3-5), 7 p.m. Friday

Scouting Report: Everett plays in the tough Capital Areas Activities Conference and will miss the playoffs for the first time in four years. The Vikings did beat their rivals Sexton last week, 33-32, so they are coming in to Harper Creek on a high. Everett beat the Beavers last year, 33-6. Harper Creek is coming to the end of its first losing season since 2008, as it has ended the season with three straight losses going into Week 9.

Great Gridder: JaCory McNutt had 10.5 tackles for Harper Creek in loss to Marshall

Lakeview (5-3) vs. Gull Lake (2-6), 7 p.m. Friday

Scouting Report: Gull Lake has lost four in a row after coming in on the short end of a crazy 57-54 loss to Niles last week. The 54 points, however, are as much as Gull Lake scored in the previous four games combined, so the Blue Devils could be feeling good about their offense. Lakeview needs a win to clinch its third straight SMAC East Division title and a fourth-straight playoff berth. The Spartans defeated Gull Lake in the final game of the regular season last year, 51-0.

Great Gridder: Jay'Vion Settles had 170 yards and two TDs for Lakeview in loss

Settles

Pennfield (3-5) vs. Olivet (5-3), 7 p.m. Friday

Scouting Report: This is a battle of former KVA rivals with Olivet still having a lot to play for as it needs a sixth win to make the playoffs. The Eagles are coming off a one-sided loss to undefeated Portland, 59-16. Before Olivet beat Pennfield last year, the Panthers had a seven-game winning streak over the Eagles. Chase Martin is one of the area's leaders in rushing for Olivet with over 800 yards on the season.

Great Gridder: Parris Bolden led Pennfield in rushing in loss to Lumen Christi

Bolden

St. Philip (8-0) at Lawrence (7-1), 7 p.m. Friday

Scouting Report: It is a battle between two top 5 teams in the 8-man football division. St. Philip has only lost three games total in the last three years and all three have been to Lawrence. No. 3-ranked Tigers are looking to end a undefeated regular season. No. 2-ranked Lawrence is the defending state champ in 8-man football. The only loss for Lawrence on the season is against the 8-man football state champs from Wisconsin.

Great Gridder: Brayden Darr had 14 tackles on defense for St. Philip in win
